Our Services

 

Monash Lung & Sleep (ML+S) provides three dedicated Radid Access Lung Oncology outpatient clinics (Clayton campus) per week and a weekly (Tuesday) Lung Oncology Multidisciplinary Meeting (MDM). 

Our clinics ensure that all acute lung oncology referrals are triaged and these patients seen as a matter of priority. We aim to see new acute referrals within 14 days from receipt of referral.

Our service can provide the following:

  • Multidisciplinary team approach
  • Weekly multidisciplinary meetings (MDM)
  • Bronchoscopy / Endobronchial Ultrasoud (EBUS)
  • CT guided biopsy / Thoracentesis
  • PET scan
  • Respiratory function test
  • Cardiopulmonary exercise test
  • Access to other specialist areas including; cardiothoracic surgery, medical and radiation oncology, palliative care, radiology and pathology.

Our patients are well supported and educated by our experienced Lung Clinical Nurse Consultants (Lung CNC's). Our Lung CNC's are available Monday-Friday 08:30am-4:30pm for patients and GP's to contact on (03) 9594 4139.

 Dr Barton Jennings

Dr Barton Jennings completed his specialist training in Respiratory Medicine at Monash Health and The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He completed a clinical fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology and Lung Cancer at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth and a Masters of Medicine at the University of Sydney. He is the Director of Lung Cancer and Bronchoscopy at Monash Health, and the Chair of the Lung Multidisciplinary Team Meeting.

Dr Alistair Miller

Alistair Miller profile photo

Dr Alistair Miller is a Physician practising in Respiratory and General Medicine and is the Head of Unit for General Medicine at Monash Medical Centre. Having completed his Respiratory training at Monash Medical Centre and the Royal Melbourne Hospital he undertook a PhD in the molecular biology of early lung cancer at the Monash Institute of Medical Research. He is the convenor of the Lung Cancer Special Interest Group of the TSANZ and a member of the Early Diagnosis and Screening subgroup of the Australian Lung Trials Group.

Dr Amir Zangiabadi

Amir Zangiabadi profile photo

Dr Amir Zangiabadi is a Respiratory Physician. He completed his training at Flinders Medical Centre and The Royal Adelaide Hospital and undertook a fellowship in Intensive Care Medicine at Monash Health. He gained further experience in the field of lung cancer and pleural diseases by completing a clinical fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, UK.  His special interests are in minimally invasive methods of staging/diagnosing lung cancer, such as EBUS and Pleuroscopy, and management of pleural infection and malignancies. Dr Zangiabadi is able to communicate in English and Farsi.

Our Lung CNC's triage all acute lung oncology referrals. They coordinate appointments, diagnostic tests/procedures and provide patients with education, support and reassurance throughout their entire patient journey. Having a single point of contact for patients helps ensure continuity of care and that our patient's needs are met. CLICK HERE to view their patient brochure.

 Bulk Billed 

Note: Patients ineligible for Medicare will be charged a fee for all services provided.
