Lymphoedema and Breast Cancer Physiotherapy
Private outpatient lymphoedema service for cancer related lymphoedema and physiotherapy for shoulder problems after breast cancer treatment
Kanooka Physiotherapy provides outpatient lymphoedema therapy for cancer related lymphoedema and physiotherapy for shoulder problems after breast cancer treatment. Operating within the Physiotherapy Department at Monash Medical Centre this service offers one to one assessment and therapy. Initial assessments are 60 minutes with follow up appointments of either 30 or 40 minutes as appropriate.
This service operates at our Moorabbin Campus.
We offer a wide spectrum of lymphoedema therapy:
- Assessment – full measurement including bioimpedence
- Prescription of compression garments
- Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage
- Prescription of lymphoedema exercises
- Compression bandaging
At risk of Lymphoedema
- Education and monitoring including bioimpedence (a measurement tool)
- Prescription of compression garments for flying
Shoulder problems after breast cancer treatment
- Frozen shoulder
- Muscle imbalance
- Scar tightness
How do I make an appointment?
If you are already a Monash Health patient using the Monash Medical Centre Lymphoedema service you do not need a referral. Just call the reception to book an appointment.
Referrals will be accepted from all health professionals including; GP’s, medical specialists, physiotherapists and nurse specialists. A copy of our referral form can be found at here
