REEL HEALTH - International Health Short Film Festival
The inaugural Reel Health International Health Short Film Festival is set to capture the imagination of film makers worldwide and ignite community conversations about the importance of health in our everyday lives.
Created and managed by Monash Health, Victoria, Australia, the festival aims to promote a greater awareness of health related issues affecting individuals and the health industry. Through the power of storytelling and film, Reel Health provides a platform for people whose voices are not often heard.
Reel Health provides people with an opportunity to tell their story and encourages film makers to explore the role of health and what it means to them, over 15 minutes from behind the lens.
Film makers have the chance to win their share of $10,000 worth of prizes across five film categories;

There is also an overall and Youth Award prize.
“We are truly honoured to have the support of the Department of Health and other health services in Victoria, to give people the opportunity to be a part of the conversation for better health in our community, using film as the platform,” says Anne Doherty, Film Festival Director and Monash Health Executive Director of Mental Health.
“We received a tremendous response from film makers who have submitted incredible films from all over the world. Some films will make you laugh, others will make you cry – all films involve telling a personal story of someone’s experience or journey that is health related,” says Anne.
The Melbourne premiere screening will be held at:
The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), 7.00pm, 14 October 2013.
